Our History
The St Erme Playing Field Trust was established in 1984 to manage and maintain sports and recreational facilities for the parishioners of St Erme. At that time, the Trust owned a single field at Trencreek. In 2002, part of this land was sold for development, and the funds raised were used to purchase the current football field. The remaining funds contributed to building the new Community Centre and installing new play equipment at Trencreek.
We are grateful to The Honourable Mary Verney, who kindly donated a corner of the cricket field to allow us to construct these new facilities. In 2004, Trencreek Park was further developed with additional play equipment.
Between 2000 and 2007, the Trustees and Committee made several attempts to secure funding for the new facilities, but were unsuccessful. In 2007, it was decided that we would build the Community Centre ourselves.
From 2007 to 2011, with the help of local farmers, over 30 businesses, and more than 100 volunteers, the Community Centre was constructed. The building was fully completed in 2011. In 2019 the Trust purchased the St Erme Cricket Field to secure it for the St Erme Cricket Club.
In 2010, the Parish Council took out a loan of £80,000 to help complete the building. Since then, we have added a new storeroom, kitchen store, and score room. We continue to make improvements as funds allow, ensuring that the facilities remain well-maintained and beneficial to the whole community.
